CHARACTER BUILDING AT SACRED HEART JUNIOR SCHOOL, MALTA

12 December 2014

On Friday 24th October Bishop Charles Scicluna came to our school to celebrate the feast of Mater Admirabillis. He did not only come for this special feast, but also as the few remaining nuns have decided to pass on the school in the Church’s hands. To welcome the Bishop we had a nice mass where both the seniors and juniors got together.

This was a great opportunity for me as I was chosen to read the thanksgiving prayers along with a senior girl called Martina.  We had rehearsals during breaks and it was loads of fun.  This is an experience that I will never forget.

THE BEAUTY OF A YOUNG, TALENTED CHARACTER...

Maria Mizzi is a talented 11 year old student, who enjoys expressing herself through Art.

Maria says that reading and spelling can be a challenge, but that with the support of her parents, teachers and LSA's, and by learning many self help skills, she is able to overcome her obstacles.

Even though Dyslexia can be frustrating in class, she says that thanks to her Dyslexia she can see things differently; She uses her creative part of the brain to help her with her art work.

Well done Maria!

The Goal of Character (Year 3)

All the school is focusing on the goal of character. The Year 3s chose the popular cartoon of ‘Doc Mc Stuffins’ to promote the positive qualities there are in Doc Mc Stuffins. The girls watched the video clips and then came up with the positive qualities about Doc Mc Stuffins. Then , they wrote a few sentences on what they are going to work on in order to become more like the Doc. Have a look at our board display!

CATCH THE DROP CAMPAIGN

Today the Year 2 classes had a talk about water conservation. Begin environmentally friendly is an important part of character building!

The girls were very enthusiastic to learn about the importance of water, especially when greeted by their special guests Spongebob Squarepants and Pirate Penelope, who made it all the more enjoyable with their jokes, quizzes and songs which the children were invited to take part in.
