MOUNT ANVILLE SECONDARY SCHOOL, DUBLIN - EMBRACING THE SACRED HEART GOAL OF CHARACTER

10 November 2014

The Sacred Heart School community in Mount Anville Secondary School, Dublin have been very busy so far this year embracing the Sacred Heart Goal of Character. Positive Mental Health Week was celebrated in our school. Staff and students reflected upon the importance of using our gifts and talents to support others during challenging times and a highlight of the week was our Walk in our Shoes Day which involved all members of our school community wearing funky or mismatching shoes for a day. The name Walk in My Shoes came from a young service user who said he wished his friends could walk in his shoes to understand his mental health difficulties.

A speaker from The Hope Foundation spoke to Fifth Year students about the work of the organisation in supporting street children in Calcutta. Hope Day took place in our school and €640 was raised as a result of selling Hope Chocolate Butlers Bars.

A Whole School Assembly was held to celebrate the feast of Mater Admirabilis. Students and staff were invited to wear a pink accessory as the colour pink is predominant in this image of our mother, Mary which is displayed in all Sacred Heart Schools worldwide. A character pledge was taken by all members of our school community expressing what it involves to be a person of character. The Student Ethos Committee under the direction of the School Ethos Prefect were presented with their Ethos badges at the assembly.
